CHICAGO — A man charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Humboldt Park on Saturday followed his victim out of a gas station and offered to pay her for sex, prosecutors said.

Marco Geronimo-Ocampo, 29, of the 1000 block of North Avers Avenue, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and kidnapping Sunday. A Cook County judge ordered Geronimo-Ocampo held on $300,000 bail on Monday.

The girl walked out of the gas station shortly after midnight with Geronimo-Ocampo behind her, prosecutors said. He allegedly tailed the girl in his car for a short distance before parking and approaching her in the 2800 block of West Division Street.

The man offered to pay the girl for sex, prosecutors said. When the girl refused, Geronimo-Ocampo picked her up and carried her into a nearby yard.

There, Geronimo-Ocampo assaulted the girl until she fought him off and was able to escape, prosecutors said. A witness saw her running from her attacker, and the girl told the witness what had happened to her.

Prosecutors said video surveillance from the gas station captured Geronimo-Ocampo's image and an anonymous tipster also called police, identifying him by name.
