ANDERSONVILLE — The pH Comedy Theater in Andersonville has a new show, "Assemblers 3: Countdown to Assemblers 4!" it says is "intended for both comic geeks and people who have never read a comic in their life."

The Internet is rife with speculation from comic book aficionados (and fanatics) about future film installments and potential plot lines of super hero franchises including X-Men, Iron Man and The Avengers. It's a fervor often ignited by cryptic mise-en-scene and post-credits clips that hint what the next blockbuster has in store.

The title of pH's latest superhero satire pokes fun at this Hollywood habit in "Assemblers 3: Countdown to Assemblers 4." The theater, 1515 W. Berwyn Ave., notes in a description of the upcoming show, "we live in an age of cinema where a movie's post-credits scene means more than the movie itself."

The sketches attack "superheroes, superhero movies and the people who love them. Love, death, sex, violence, codependency and devotion to hype are all part of this action-adventure-comedy spectacle," according to a release from the theater.

Opening night at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 5, but there's an Aug. 29 preview. The show runs through Nov. 21. The show is being directed by Brett Mannes, and was written by the "Assemblers" ensemble with Kenny Metroff and Jason Geis.

The ensemble for "Assemblers 3" includes: Kayce Alltop, Austin Campion, Amy Couey, Drew Current, Nick De Fina, Colt Duba, Scott Hogan, Steve Hund, Garrett Kelly, Rasheeda Moore, Shane Wallace and Shanna Wallace.

Tickets cost $15, but students with a valid ID only pay $10. Click here to buy tickets.
