Man Falls to Death in Gold Coast

CHICAGO — Police are conducting a death investigation after a man fell 18 floors to his death in the Gold Coast early Sunday.

Around 2:30 a.m., the man, 38, fell from an apartment on the 22nd floor in a building in the 300 block of East Ohio Street landing on a terrace on the fourth floor.

The man was unresponsive on the scene, said Officer Ann Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The man was identified as Dawayne Grosh. An autopsy Sunday determined he died of multiple injuries from a fall, and indicated he was intoxicated when he died. He death was ruled an accident.
