COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A North Park man has been charged with retail theft after he allegedly stole more than $1,000 worth of Cubs gear in Wrigleyville and then tried to resell it inside Wrigley Field.

Gusti Korotkov, of the 5900 block of North Central Park Avenue, appeared in bond court Tuesday afternoon to face a felony count of retail theft.

Last week, Korotkov, 22, walked into The Cubs Store, the team-owned retail shop located across the street from Wrigley Field, and stole three jerseys, nine hats and a jacket, all worth approximately $1,005, according to a police report.

Korotkov put the stolen loot into a bag before heading into the ballpark. An usher alerted security after she spotted Korotkov trying to sell the merchandise to other patrons inside the park, according to the police report.

Cubs security detained Korotkov after finding the sportswear in his bag. The merchandise still had the tags, and police were able to later get security camera footage from the store that showed Korotkov taking the clothes, according to court records.

Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. ordered Korotkov put on electronic monitoring and released on his own recognizance.

The Cubs and Wrigley Field are 95 percent owned by a trust established for the benefit of the family of Joe Ricketts, owner and CEO of DNAinfo.com. Joe Ricketts has no direct involvement in the management of the iconic team.
