Stephanie Izard, Gale Gand Among Five Named to Chicago Chefs Hall of Fame

CHICAGO — Five members of Chicago's culinary world have been named as inductees to the Chicago Culinary Museum and Chefs Hall of Fame.

This year's inductees include:

• Chef of the Year Stephanie Izard, chef of two West Loop restaurants — Girl & the Goat and Little Goat — as well as the first woman to win the Bravo reality show "Top Chef."

• Pastry Chef of the Year Gale Gand, who recently teamed up with The Hearty Boys to open SpritzBurger in Lakeview.

• This year's "legendary chef" Michael Kornick, the restaurateur behind mk in River North, as well as DMK Burger Bar and Fish Bar in Lakeview.

• This year's "industry leader" Phil Stefani, who owns and operates 15 restaurant and event venues, including several in Downtown and Navy Pier.

• This year's "industry legend" Larry Levy, whose Levy Restaurants serves Wrigley Field, U.S. Cellular Field and the United Center.

The five inductees will be honored in a ceremony on Oct. 16 at Castle, 632 N. Dearborn St.

Last year, six people were honored, including chefs Paul Kahan and Alain Roby.
