CHICAGO — A 39-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night while riding his bike in Gresham.

The man was riding his bike in the 7600 block of South Hoyne Avenue when a red car drove up and someone inside fired multiple shots at him. Police arrived on the scene around 9 p.m. and found the man unresponsive with gunshot wounds in the chest and back, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man, Gabriel Stevens, is from south suburban Dolton. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The car drove off and no one is in custody for the shooting, Greer said.
