COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — While working as a mover, a Humboldt Park man ripped off two clients, stealing about $20,000 worth of jewelry from one, prosecutors said.

David Diaz, 37, is charged with two counts of felony theft after pocketing the belongings he had been hired to move and selling them to Cash America and Aaron's Jewelers, both in Humboldt Park, prosecutors said.

On June 21, Diaz stole jewelry from a home in the 3100 block of South Morgan Street in Bridgeport, prosecutors said.

The second victim, a woman who lives in the 2000 block of West Addison Street in North Center, reported multiple pieces of jewelry missing after Diaz had been to her home to help with a move on July 12, according to court records.

In one of the two instances, the loot's value totaled about $20,000, prosecutors said.
