ENGLEWOOD — The Salvation Army is throwing a party for Englewood children a week before the new school year starts for Chicago Public Schools.

The fourth-annual Back To School Block Party runs from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 23 outside the Salvation Army's Adele and Robert Stern Red Shield Center, 945 W. 69th St.

The party will feature free food, music and games along with free drawings for school supplies and food baskets while supplies last, said Lt. Nikki Hughes, a spokeswoman for the Salvation Army, who added the group is seeking donated school supplies to hand out to children.
