CHATHAM — As it continues to celebrate its one-year anniversary, Flecks Coffee House & Cafe will host live jazz performances by two local artists.
The free, outdoor events will run from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday and Aug. 8 at the cafe, 343 E. 79th St. The James Russell Sims Jazz Trio will perform on Thursday, with Curtis Morgan performing next week at the family-owned business.
"Bring your chair and an appetite," said Zuli Turner, who co-owns the cafe with her mother Olga Turner. "We want the community to come out and enjoy listening to some great music."
The cafe is open from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. seven days a week. Free WiFi is also available.
In addition, Ald. Roderick Sawyer (6th) will bring his "Alderman in Your Area" program to the cafe from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Aug. 8.
Every Friday in August, Sawyer, whose ward includes Chatham and portions of Englewood, will set up a satellite office at a local business as a way to "to bring the ward office to residents and give them easier access to me," Sawyer said.
