CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy shot in East Garfield Park was one of two people wounded in gun violence Monday night.

The 16-year-old was walking home from a store in the 600 block of North Hamlin Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Monday when a man on a bike opened fire, striking him in his back. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

A half hour later, a 28-year-old man was shot during a robbery in the 100 block of East 120th Street in West Pullman. Around 10:45 p.m. Monday, a man wielding a gun and another man approached the 28-year-old man and began robbing him. The man fought back and was shot in his leg, Greer said.

The two men then took an unknown amount of cash from the man's pockets and left. The victim was taken to Stroger in serious condition, Greer said.
