CHICAGO — A 17-year-old shot in his chest in West Humboldt Park was among three people wounded overnight in violence citywide.

The boy was in Kedvale Park, 4134 W. Hirsch St., about 8:25 p.m. when some people approached him on bikes and shot at him, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.

The boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition after being shot in his chest.

No one is in custody.

In other shootings:

• In South Chicago, a 35-year-old man was shot in his head about 11:40 p.m. in the 9100 block of South South Chicago Avenue, Estrada said. The man was taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

• Also in South Chicago, a 21-year-old man was shot in his leg about 9 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Muskegon Avenue, Estrada said. The man is in stable condition, and there is no other information available about the shooting.

Five other people were shot in Chicago earlier Thursday, including a man in Old Town.
