CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot in West Englewood Tuesday night, police said.

The man was in the 7100 block of South Winchester Avenue around 9:30 p.m. when someone in a light-colored car opened fire, striking him in his back. He was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The man was a documented gang member. No one is in custody for the shooting, Greer said.
