Two Charged in Murder of West Town Man in Chicago Lawn

CHICAGO — Two men have been charged in the murder of a West Town man killed in a drive-by shooting in Chicago Lawn early Tuesday.

Christian Alvarez, 18, of the 5800 block of South Trumbull Avenue and Antonio Castaneda, 31, of the 6000 block of South Kedzie Avenue are accused of shooting Aguilar in the 6200 block of South Francisco Avenue at 2 a.m.

Aguilar was standing on the sidewalk when shots were fired from a passing SUV.

Aguilar, 33, of the 1500 block of West Walton Avenue, died at Advocate Christ Medical Center at 10:16 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Both Alvarez and Castaneda were charged with first-degree murder. Castaneda was also charged with aggravated battery and attempt to disarm an officer after resisting arrest following the shooting.
