UPTOWN — Crews filming in Uptown on Tuesday for a new Netflix series titled "Sense8," from the Wachowski siblings and J. Michael Straczynsk, will lead to street closings and parking restrictions.

Broadway between Leland and Wilson avenues, and Clifton Avenue between Wilson and Broadway will be closed to traffic from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m., according to the office of Ald. James Cappleman (46th).

Parking will also be prohibited on numerous nearby streets from 8 p.m. Monday and extending until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Parking will be banned on the following streets, according to a filming notice:

  • Both sides of Clifton from Wilson to Broadway.
  • The north side of Wilson between Racine Avenue and Broadway.
  • South side of Leland from Winthrop Avenue to Racine Avenue.
  • Both sides of Leland from Broadway to Winthrop.
  • Both sides of Winthrop from Lawrence Avenue to 4748 N. Winthrop Ave.

Expected to debut next year, "Sense8" is a 10-episode sci-fi drama about "eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally,” Straczynski explained to Deadline.com last month.

“They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, they have access to each other’s deepest secrets," said "Babylon 5" creator Straczynsk, who created the story and is executive producing the series along with the Wachowskis, known for "The Matrix" trilogy.

He said the characters in his new Netflix series "not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them.”

The cast includes Chicago's own Daryl Hannah, known as the diabolical Elle Driver of Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" series, Naveen Andrews from hit show "Lost," "Doctor Who" actress Freema Agyeman and Brian J. Smith, from the cast of "Stargate Universe."

The show is reportedly filming in Chicago, San Francisco, Mexico City, Nairobi, Mumbai, Seoul, London, Iceland and Berlin.

The Wachowski siblings also filmed part of their film "Jupiter Ascending" in Chicago last summer, and are based out of Kinowerks, their Ravenswood pre- and post-production studio.
