ROGERS PARK — Residents plan to gather at the corner of Devon and Glenwood avenues Wednesday night, where William Lewis, an innocent bystander, was gunned down during an alleged gang-related dispute Saturday.

Supporters and members of the Rogers Park Positive Loitering group plan to gather at 7 p.m. on Devon Avenue with Ald. Joe Moore (49th) and Ald. Harry Osterman (50th), who both promoted the event in remembrance of Lewis, and then walk east to Sheridan Road after a moment of silence.

Lewis, 28, had been walking in the 1300 block of Devon Avenue Saturday when a gunman opened fire at a rival gang member, authorities said.

Eric Vaughn, of Uptown, was arrested and later charged in the murder. An accomplice has yet to be arrested.

Vaughn, 31, had also been released from prison in April after serving seven years for a 2004 attempted murder.
