CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy is dead after being shot in his head while in a car in Belmont Gardens Monday afternoon.

He was one of two people wounded in the incident that occurred in the 2800 block of North Kenneth Avenue about 3:30 p.m., police said.

The boy was shot in his head while a 49-year-old man was shot in his back.

Both were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Adam Lara, 16, of the 4000 block of North Central Park Avenue in Irving Park was pronounced dead at 5:37 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
