BUCKTOWN — Mindy Segal's forthcoming Logan Square bakery isn't yet ready for its debut, but some of her pastries and cookies are.

Segal will give a preview of several menu items starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday at her restaurant Hot Chocolate, 1747 N. Damen Ave.

While this is a palate-teaser for her Milwaukee Avenue bakery, this also marks new hours for Hot Chocolate, which will now be open all day Tuesdays through Fridays.

"Whereas we used to close at 2 p.m. and reopen at 5:30 for dinner, that won't be the case anymore," said James Gray, Hot Chocolate's acting director of operations. "We're working on getting Wi-Fi so people can come in for an afternoon snack of cookies and coffee at 3 o'clock."

The breakfast bakery items will include ham and Gruyere croissants, hot fudge rugelach croissants, sweet and savory danishes (think tomato and Brie, raspberry and brown butter), bagels, quiche and Shirley's Yum Yum Coffee Cake, named after her mom, who's been an integral part of the business.

Coffee and Segal's signature hot chocolate will be sold as well.

"Soon she hopes to roll out an extensive bread program and more," said her publicist Heidi Hageman.
