CHICAGO — Two Gangster Disciples were each sentenced to a century in prison for the 2009 murder of 9-year-old Chastity Turner while she was washing dogs in front of her father's South Side home.

Ronald Henderson, 34, and Kevin Stanley, 31, were convicted in March of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in connection with the June 24, 2009 shooting.

That day, Chastity was visiting her father at his Greater Grand Crossing home in the 7400 block of South Stewart Avenue. She was out front with other family members washing their dogs, when shooters drove a stolen van down the street and fired in their direction, authorities say.

The shooting was part of a turf war over drug territory, according to prosecutors. Henderson, Stanley and Davionne Whitefield — a third person charged in the case awaiting trial — are members of the Gangster Disciples.

Chastity died after being shot in her back. Three men, including Chastity's father, were wounded but survived.
