PORTAGE PARK — Burger lovers have a good excuse to try Leadbelly's newest craft burger creation — a classic burger topped with ribs and a haystack of fried onion straws on a bed of Sriracha-bleu cheese slaw.
"They have been flying out of the kitchen," Masse O'Brien said. "It is a great cause."
Heather Cherone details just how ... healthy ... these charitable burgers are:
That might have something to do with the fact that the burger features not just any ribs, but the world famously tender ribs from Jefferson Park's Gale Street Inn.
"It is really good," Masse O'Brien said. "The slaw gives it a nice kick."
And don't worry about fitting it all in your mouth, Masse O'Brien said.
"It smooshes," she said.
Lauded as the home of some of the best burgers in Chicago, Leadbelly said business has been good at its second location in Gladstone Park, 5691 W. Milwaukee Ave.
"Business has been very steady and strong," O'Brien said.
