JEFFERSON PARK — North Maine Community Church, which was founded in the Northwest Suburbs, has found a new home in Jefferson Park, church leaders said.

North Maine now shares space with Northwest Fellowship Baptist Church at 6125 W. Foster Ave. as leaders from both churches explore the possibility of the churches uniting.

"The bottom line is could the two churches be better together?" lead Pastor Robbie deMarigny said in a video posted on the church's Facebook page.

DeMarigny praised Northwest Fellowship's 150-year history and its strong youth sports programs. North Maine Community Church was excited to begin reaching residents of the Northwest Side of Chicago, he said.

North Maine Community Church was founded in Des Plaines in 2009.

“We’re eager to serve and encourage families and young adults of all backgrounds throughout this area, and to be here loving them and doing life together,” deMarigny said in a statement.

Services are held at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. Sundays in the church building on Foster Avenue near North Moody Avenue.

The two churches will host a picnic from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday in Austin-Foster Playlot Park6020 W. Foster Ave. The gathering will feature food, sports and games.

Two Bible and sports camps hosted by the churches will take place from 6-8:45 p.m. Aug. 4-8 and Aug. 11-14. Children ages 4 and older will play basketball, kickball, floor hockey and games while learning about decision-making, preparation, teamwork, communication, respect and graceful winning and losing, church leaders said.

A kickoff party to celebrate North Maine's new home will take place from noon-2:30 p.m. Sept. 7 with bounce houses, music, games and activities in the church parking lot, gym and vicinity.
