BRIDGEPORT — Residents looking to push back against local crime are invited to a barbecue with police.
The picnic event, which doubles as a CAPS meeting, is at 6 p.m Tuesday at the annex building of Armour School, located at the southwest corner of 32nd Place and Lituanica Avenue — a residential area that's seen several recent shootings and gained notoriety as gang turf.
According to data compiled by WBEZ using the Chicago Crime Commission "Gang Book," it's the Latin Kings and Satan's Disciples accounting for the area's gang activity.
The barbecue is free to attend.
Police officials are supplying food, including burgers, hot dogs, water and pop, but guests are welcome to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
