CHICAGO — A man was fatally shot by police in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood Saturday evening, one of four officer-involved shootings since Friday.

About 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired near West 85th Street and South Morgan Street and saw a man who fit the description of the gunman walking down the block, said Pat Camden, a spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police.

When officers approached, the man fled. Officers saw the alleged gunman dart into a gangway in the 8700 block of South Sangamon Street, and followed the man into the backyard, Camden said.

Police found the man hiding underneath a car parked in the backyard with "his finger on the trigger" of a .380 semi-automatic handgun, he said.

"The officer tells him numerous times very loudly and very clearly to drop the weapon," Camden said,  adding that police fired after the man did not listen and raised the gun at officers as he moved out from under the car.

After the man was shot, officers told him again to drop the gun. Again, the man pointed the gun towards the officers, causing them to fire, Camden said.

The man was killed, Camden said.

Warren Robinson, 16, of the 1100 block of West 90th Street, was pronounced dead at 7:02 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

"The simple truth remains when police tell you to drop the gun, drop the gun and you won't get shot," Camden said. "It's pretty simple."

No officers were injured in the shooting.

The Chicago Police Department did not immediately have any information on the shooting.

Since Friday, four people have been shot by police, two fatally.
