West Englewood Shooting Kills Man, 19

CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man was fatally shot in West Englewood early Wednesday.

Police responded to a call of a "man down" in the 7100 block of South Winchester Avenue and discovered the 19-year-old man shot in his head and back near a bike on the block, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he later died.

The shooting occurred around 1:45 a.m., Alfaro said.

The man, identified as Dakari Pargo, was pronounced dead at 2:35 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
