LAKEVIEW — The Brown Elephant's new store is officially open.
The sprawling resale shop at 3020 N. Lincoln Ave. is replacing the Brown Elephant's Boystown location, which closed last month when a long-term lease expired.
The folks at Brown Elephant said they hope to create a "modern retail experience" in their new digs by culling vintage and higher-end donations.
"Even though it's a resale store, [we want] the experience for shoppers to mimic a boutique or any kind of funky store that you'd find in the neighborhood," said David Ernesto Munar, president and CEO of the Howard Brown Health Center.
Brown Elephant raise money for Howard Brown, which offers free and sliding-scale care to Chicago's LGBT community.

The store is open daily, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
