ENGLEWOOD — Ald. JoAnn Thompson (16th) will meet with Englewood residents shortly after a groundbreaking ceremony takes place for a new retail development, to provide further details, such as job opportunities.

The meeting is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Room at the Englewood Police District, 1438 W. 63rd St., which follows a 10 a.m. groundbreaking for the five-acre development at the corner of 63rd and Halsted streets and will be anchored by a Whole Foods store.

Last September when Whole Foods Market officials announced its plans to open a store co-CEO Walter Robb said his company would address the price and menu selections residents said concerned them.

"I'm not sure how we are going to do it, but we will address the price differences between us and other grocery stores," Robb said. "We plan to engage the community in this process and find out from them what products they want sold at the Englewood store."
