Two Men Charged In Greater Grand Crossing Shooting

CHICAGO — Two men have been charged in connection with a South Side shooting that left a 23-year-old woman hospitalized.

Police have charged Demarco Bell, 18, and Shermiahh Butler, 19, with the shooting which happened on Thursday, June 26.

About 4:30 p.m., a 23-year-old woman was shot in her lower right leg in a drive-by shooting in the 7600 block of South Yale Avenue, police said.

The woman was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where her condition stabilized, police said.

Bell and Butler were later identified as the men shooting from a passing vehicle.

Bell, of the 8100 block of South Harvard Avenue, has been charged with one felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Butler, of the 8200 block of South Vincennes Avenue, was also charged with one count of aggravated discharged of a firearm.
