THE LOOP — Why schlep all over Chicago to hit the city's best boutiques when they could come to you?
Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel will bring a citywide boutique shopping experience to the Loop for a one-day pop-up inspired by street fairs called "R-Fest" that runs from 4-10 p.m. Thursday.
The hotel's lobby will be lined with pop-up booths from local artisans and vendors, including jewelry from designers IANNECI and SAIC grad Therese Kuempel, bath products from Logan Square's North Coast Organics' all-vegan line and one-of-a-kind accessories like Argaman & Defiance's naturally-dyed silk scarves.
For shoppers who work up an appetite, West Town's Das Foods, Salted Caramel from Jefferson Park and Sweet Considerations will have indulgent treats on hand.
After the pop-up shop wraps, the hotel will host an afterparty its bar and restaurant, Bar Novo, where DJ Chris Mix will perform. Entrance is free to the event in the hotel's lobby, but leaving without spending may prove to be a challenge.
