CHICAGO — Two people were injured in shootings overnight Tuesday including a 14-year-old boy shot in North Lawndale.

Around 10:25 p.m., the teen was walking on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of South Drake Avenue when a man walked up and opened fire, striking the boy in his lower back, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Alfaro said.

About 10 minutes earlier, a 23-year-old man was shot in the 5400 block of West Walton Street in Austin when a man opened fire from the street toward the alley where the man was standing, Alfaro said.

The man was struck in his head and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition. No one is in custody for the shooting and detectives are investigating, Alfaro said.

Elsewhere Tuesday, five people were also shot in two separate incidents in Bronzeville.
