UPTOWN — Free health screenings, one-on-one medical consultations and pain management classes are among the perks to be offered Thursday at the Senior Citizen Health Fair.

The event, sponsored by Illinois Senate President John Cullerton and state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz, is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. at Weiss Memorial Hospital's medical office building, 4700 N. Marine Drive.

Weiss will provide free prostate cancer tests, free screenings for blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol and vascular health, as well as strength and balance testing and health tips, according to a release.

Doctors at the event also plan to conduct free classes about diabetic care, managing ankle and foot pain and improving circulation.

“The lakefront neighborhoods are fantastic places for seniors to live and retire, because there are so many resources, living options and health care providers,” Feigenholtz said in a statement. “We are excited to highlight the array of local and state services available to seniors in our community.”

A flier for the event promised refreshments, raffle prizes and the chance for seniors to learn more about local services.

Visit Feigenholtz's website for more information, or call her constituent service office at 773-296-4141.
