CHICAGO — A 77-year-old Jefferson Park man died when he was struck by a car as he tried to cross Elston Avenue, authorities said.
The crash occurred in the 5900 block of North Elston Avenue about 12:50 a.m., police said.
Police say alcohol wasn't a factor in the crash involving a 45-year-old driver. She was cited for striking a pedestrian and driving without insurance.
The victim, identified as Joseph Kubica of the 5300 block of North Luna Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:10 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
