BRIDGEPORT — Formerly situated in a vacant parking lot, the neighborhood farmers market will this year be hosted outside the Bridgeport Art Center and go beyond produce and food sales.

Organizers say local artists will also sell their wares, including jewelry, fashion designs and artwork, and guests will be able to stroll through the center's outdoor sculpture garden and indoor galleries.

The goal is to make the weekly gathering "more than just a farmers market. It will be a community event for all to visit and enjoy," said Drago Batar, who runs the massive art gallery and studios at 1200 W. 35th St.

The market kicks off June 21 and runs from 7-11 a.m. every Saturday through Oct. 4. Free parking is available adjacent to the building.

Food vendors for this year's market include Dotson’s Farm, Stamper Cheese, Provo's Bakery, Jane’s Noms, Wolf Point Farms and Nibbles Bakery. A list of the arts vendors was not immediately available.
