CHICAGO — An Auburn Gresham man has been charged with killing a West Englewood man in 2012, police said.

Deshun D. McKinney, 21, of the 7600 block of South May Street, was charged with shooting 46-year-old Randy Streeter on March 24, 2012.

Police said McKinney fired several shots at Streeter, who was found unresponsive in an alley in the 6200 block of South Honore Street about 9:25 p.m. Streeter was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he died.

Streeter had left his home nearby to go to a convenience store before he was shot, family members said at the time.

“It was a random act of violence,” said his brother-in-law, Jimmie Warren. “It was basically the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Streeter had recently been released from prison, Warren said. He had been sentenced to two years in prison in 2011 for possession of a controlled substance, according to court records.

Since his release, he had been spending time with family, in particular his 91-year-old grandfather, and looking for work, family members said.

McKinney is due in court Friday.
