BRIDGEPORT — Friends of Carissa Hinz are invited to gather for a potluck dinner and vigil designed to celebrate the late artist's life.
Hinz, a 21-year-old Bridgeport resident, was killed last year in a hit-and-run crash in the 3200 block of South Morgan Street.
The vigil takes place 6 p.m. Saturday — exactly one year after the crash — at Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St., the art gallery and performance venue where Hinz had been volunteering before she was struck by a speeding maroon sedan.
Casey Cora updates listeners on how friends are remembering Carissa Hinz one year later:
The case remains unsolved, but Hinz's friends have tried to keep the case in the spotlight with frequent postings of fliers around Bridgeport and a North Side neighborhood where they believe an acquaintance of the sedan's driver may reside.
Organizers of Saturday's remembrance say guests are encouraged to bring a dish to pass. Beer and wine will be provided.
The community meal precedes a candlelight vigil near the crash scene, where friends can leave notes and pictures to join the mementos that have remained at the corner throughout the year.
