Woman, 21, Killed and Man Wounded in Park Manor Shooting

CHICAGO — A 21-year-old woman was killed and a man was wounded in a drive-by shooting Monday night in Park Manor.

About 10:50 p.m. Monday, Paris Brown and a man were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 7300 block of South Perry Avenue when a dark-colored SUV pulled up next to  them, police said.

Someone inside the SUV opened fire, hitting Brown and the man, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police Department spokesman. The man, who is in his 20s, was shot in his back and leg, and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Brown was shot in her body. The 21-year-old, who lived on the same block where she was shot, was taken to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 11:25 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting as of Tuesday morning, police said.
