CHICAGO — A man is dead and a child was injured in a daytime shooting in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

The shooting occurred in the 7100 block of South Harvard Avenue about 3 p.m.

A 26-year-old man was taken to St. Bernard Hospital by private car in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 6:37 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner. They identified the man as Brett Ewing, of the 6800 block of South Perry Avenue.

The boy, whose age was unavailable, was shot in his hand and taken to Comer Children's Hospital in stable condition.
