EDGEWATER — The Edgewater arts community is buzzing with action this summer.

Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) said in an email to residents Tuesday that neighborhood theaters continue to "grow and thrive."

Osterman announced that a new theater company, About Face Theatre, would be moving into the second floor of 5252 North Broadway.

He also relayed plans for the neighborhood's newest theater, Edge Theatre, which plans to open in 2015 at 5451 North Broadway. The theater will be home to Lil' Bud's Theatre Company.

"As alderman, it has been a priority of mine to invest in and support our existing theaters as well as attract new companies that are a good fit for the community," Osterman said.

The Edgewater District Theater Flex Pass, which allows show-goers to attend several neighborhood theaters for a set price, will also be offered this summer.

With the pass, the following shows are available, according to Osterman: "Vieux Carre," at Raven Theatre; "Look Back in Anger," at Redtwist Theatre; "Eat Your Heart Out," at Rivendell Theatre; "Haymaker," at The Neo Futuriarium; "Until Death do us Part," at Redtwist Theatre; "EXIT Strategy," by Jackalope Theatre at the Broadway Armory Park Theatre; and two events by Three Cat Productions at Berger Park: "Cabaret on the Lake" and a staged reading of "The Last Reunion."

The Chicago Park District will also host its Theater on the Lake program at Berger Park for three weeks beginning in late June.

Osterman also promoted the Pivot Arts Festival, a series of events through June 14 featuring theater, dance, music and more.
