BRIDGEPORT — A summer-long volunteer cleanup and education effort at Palmisano Park and surrounding areas continues June 21.

"This month we should see a few flowering blooms, learn a little more about the native and invasive plants sprouting in the park, and pull a few of those invasives in the park's natural areas," Palmisano Park steward Sam Mattone said in an email.

The cleanup takes place 9 a.m. to noon June 21.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the southeast corner of the park at 29th and Halsted streets. Organizers say tools, gloves, training, and snacks will be provided. Participants are encouraged to wear hats and long pants and expected to bring sunblock and perhaps a bottle of water.

To register, contact Mattone by emailing smattone@gmail.com
