CHICAGO — Trying to find a spot to relax in the Loop? The Chicago Loop Alliance is using three campaigns to provide just that to residents and tourists.

The Chicago Loop Alliance will provide seating through "placemaking" initiatives, with permanent seating provided through chairs and tables in Pritzker Park near Harold Washington Library and the Gateway public plaza on State Street. Roving seating will be provided throughout the Loop through the Alliance's #CitySeats campaign.

Participants of the #CitySeats campaign can use Twitter and the #CitySeats hashtag to suggest spots for temporary seating 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays throughout the summer. Seating will be in the area of Dearborn Street east to Michigan Avenue and Monroe Street north to Lake Street, with hints given about moving seating locations over Twitter.

Pritzker Park's kickoff will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and will feature food trucks and live music. The park will provide seating for 40 to 50 people at a time 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day throughout the summer.

“Our new activation of Pritzker Park and #CitySeats are continuations of CLA’s efforts to improve the quality of the public realm downtown,” said CLA Executive Director Michael Edwards, according to a news release. “We want to create a distinct sense of place and high-performing experiences within the Loop.”
