CHICAGO — A 27-year-old man injured in an Englewood shooting Thursday morning has died, officials said.

Derrick Bowens, of the 7000 block of South Morgan Street, was shot about 9:50 a.m. Thursday, police said. Police initially said a man in his 30s had been shot in the abdomen while standing in front of a home in the 7000 block of South Morgan Street after shots were fired from a black sedan.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said Bowens was killed in the 7000 block of South Sangamon Street, a block away.

Bowens was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said. He was pronounced dead at Christ at 7:04 p.m., the medical examiner's office said.

Police had no more information Friday.
