CHICAGO — Five people were wounded in shootings overnight, including two in an early Wednesday incident in Englewood.

In the most recent shooting, a 31-year-old man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition after being shot in his neck in the 4200 block of West Jackson Boulevard in West Garfield Park around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

More information was not available because the man was unable to talk before he went into surgery, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

Around 1:10 a.m., two people were shot in the 5600 block of South Shields Avenue in Englewood. The two were among a group of people standing outside when they heard gunfire and realized they were shot.

A 25-year-old man was in stable condition after being shot in both legs and his arm. A 26-year-old man was also in stable condition after being shot in his leg. Both men were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, Gaines said.

Several hours earlier, a 43-year-old man was shot in his leg in his backyard in the 8600 block of South Morgan Street in Auburn Gresham. The man was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in stable condition after the shooting, which occurred around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, Gaines said.

Around 8:12 p.m. Tuesday, a 24-year-old man was in an alley near the 4700 block of South Ingleside in Kenwood when someone approached and fired shots, striking him in the back. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition, Gaines said.
