CHICAGO — Want to check out the plethora of bands playing Riot Fest this year but are short on cash? Just put your tickets on layaway.

Seriously.

Riot Fest announced Tuesday that it would allow fans to buy tickets to the Sept. 12-14 Humboldt Park festival in three or four installments. Three-day passes to the fest are $189.98.

The Cure, Jane's Addiction, The National, Rise Against and Weezer are among the headliners.

"Even though we always keep tickets prices as low as we can, we want to make things a little easier for you," Riot Fest said on Facebook. "Some of you are students or are on budgets, so now you can buy Riot Fest tickets on layaway for all 3 cities. (insert your own K-Mart joke here.)"

For those picking up layaway passes this month, you'll pay $47.50 plus fees up front, then 25 percent July 1, August 1 and September 1. Layaway plans are also available for VIP three-day passes, which will set you back $289.98 (or $72.50 up front on the layaway plan).

Festivals such as Coachella in California and Bonnaroo in Tennessee have also adopted layaway plans for their fests, but Riot Fest is the first major Chicago festival to do so.

"It's so cool to see an organization that's on the same side as its customers," one fan tweeted in response to the Riot Fest announcement Tuesday.
