CHICAGO — A 33-year-old man was fatally shot in the South Chicago neighborhood Saturday night.

De Angelo Russell, of the 8200 block of South Marquette Avenue, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center at 1:35 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Russell was walking with friends in the 2600 block of East 83rd Street when someone approached and fired shots, striking him multiple times, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

Russell was taken to Christ in critical condition after being shot in his leg, side and arm, said Greer.
