CHICAGO — A shooting in Wicker Park left a 21-year-old man hospitalized Friday morning, police said.

Only preliminary information was available on the shooting, which occurred in the 1400 block of North Ashland Avenue, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

The 21-year-old man was shot in his back during the incident about 4:10 a.m. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition, Greer said.

In other violence, a 24-year-old man was shot in his leg about 11:10 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of North Lockwood Avenue in South Austin, Greer said.

The man was in his home when intruders came in through a back door and started to rob him. One of the robbers pulled out a gun and shot the man, and the robbers then left with an unknown amount of cash, Greer said.

The man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition, Greer said.
