CHICAGO — Police found a cache of stolen cellphones at a South Side mobile phone store after arresting a man for allegedly stealing two phones from a CTA rider Thursday.

James Barnes, 40, was arrested and charged with pinching a pair of phones from a 19-year-old man on the 87th Street Red Line platform Thursday morning, police said. After investigating the alleged cellphone theft, police got a search warrant for a cellphone store in the 0-100 block of West 79th Street.

While executing the warrant, police said they found 21 more stolen cellphones.

Another man was taken into custody in connection with the police investigation. Michael Donaldson, 34, was charged with two misdemeanors: resisting a peace officer and possession of stolen property.

Barnes was charged with felony aggravated robbery and for failing to register as a sex offender. They are due in court Saturday.
