CHICAGO — A woman who was the passenger in a car that crashed into a viaduct on the West Side early Sunday morning died Thursday, authorities said.

Regina Jordan, 29, of the 1700 block of North Menard Avenue, died Thursday morning at Mount Sinai Hospital, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

Jordan was the passenger in a car that crashed in North Lawndale about 5:15 Sunday morning, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

Greer said the car, a 2001 BMW X5, was speeding when it hit a viaduct in the 4500 block of West Cermak Avenue. Jordan and the driver, Kristan Malone, 28, were both taken to Mount Sinai.

Malone, of the 4200 block of West 21st Place, was charged with aggravated DUI, a felony. He appeared in bond court Tuesday, and was ordered held on $150,000 bail. He was also charged with driving on a suspended license, failure to reduce speed and driving without insurance, Greer said.

Greer did not know if Malone faced upgraded charges after Jordan died.
