BOYSTOWN — Apparently Boystown loved the super campy, super drag and super gay revival of "Snow White and the Seven Drag Queens."

The show, which ran twice a week for five weeks, will be extending its run for another four weeks at Hydrate Nightclub, 3458 N. Halsted St., said Jennings Wynn, marketing coordinator for production company MidTangent.

"We had a fabulously successful sold out run and are bringing Snow back for another quick turn," Wynn said in an email.

"Snow White" replaces the seven dwarves of the traditional fairy tale with seven queens, and the evil queen Mullificent — played by not a man in drag, but woman with a drag look — is envious of Snow White's growing fierceness as "the most fabulous in the eyes of the gays."

When it first debuted five years ago with a slightly different plot, finding the perfect mix of talent was a struggle, according to Tony Lewis, writer and director of the show. There were drag queens and actors and singers and dancers, but few people would do all of it.

With the rising popularity of drag, people became more comfortable with throwing on a dress. This time "Snow" hit the stage, many of the queens came armed with background in theater, Lewis said.

The cast and crew will be taking a week off from performing this week to change up the cast a little. "Snow White" will return on Friday, May 30. Shows are every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. until June 20. Tickets cost $15.

But that will be it for the show. MidTangent does not plan to extend it after that.
