CHICAGO — A 32-year-old man was shot to death in Austin Saturday afternoon.

The man was sitting in a parked car in the 200 block of North Pine Avenue when someone inside a passing vehicle opened fire about 4:25 p.m., said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

The victim, who was shot in the right side of his body, tried to drive away, but crashed his car nearby, police said.

Charles Lee, 32, of the 1700 block of North Lotus Avenue, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:04 p.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one was in custody.
