CHICAGO — Move over deep-dish pizza and Chicago-style hot dogs.

Chicago is also top-notch when it comes to Mexican restaurants, according to a ranking of America's 50 best Mexican restaurants published by The Daily Meal.

The ranking was based on a survey of "culinary authorities, writers and critics" across the country, and six Chicago restaurants were named to the list, including the No. 1 spot.

Rick Bayless's Topolobampo nabbed the top spot on the list, and Big Star in Wicker Park earned the ranking of ninth-best Mexican restaurant in the country.

Other Chicago restaurants in the top 50 are:

•Maxwell Street Market (22nd), on Sundays at 800 S. Desplaines St.;

•Birrieria Zaragoza (25th), 4852 S. Pulaski Road;

•La Pasadita (37th), 1141 N. Ashland Ave.;

•Salpicon (42nd), 1245 N. Wells St.

The Daily Meal also recently said the city had five of the best tacos in the country.
