Woman Killed, Man Wounded in North Lawndale Shooting

CHICAGO — A 20-year-old woman is dead after she was shot in her back in North Lawndale Tuesday afternoon.

The woman and a 34-year-old man were shot in the 1500 block of South Central Park Avenue about 4:30 p.m., according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.

Both victims were self-transported to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Chasteddy Blocker, 20, who lived on the block where she was shot, was pronounced dead at 4:46 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The man was shot in his right hip and is in critical condition at the hospital.

No one was in custody.
