CANARYVILLE — Volunteers are needed to help clean up at the Canaryville Little League ball diamond.

The third-annual "Spring Clean and Green" begins 5 p.m. Tuesday at the ballpark, located at 45th Place and Normal Avenue. Participants are asked to bring a rake, shovel or broom.

Organizers say the effort will "enable the grounds and surrounding area to be baseball worthy for this Saturday’s league opening day."

The local kids' league always kicks off with the annual parade through Canaryville.

This year, the parade kicks off at 9:15 a.m. Saturday outside Taylor-Lauridsen Park, 704 W. 42nd St. The festivities include marching bands and special guest appearances followed by a full day of baseball and softball games.

The ballpark will feature some renovations this year, including a fan deck, batting cages and a "Canaryville" sign welcoming fans to the park.

That's in addition to the extensive renovations from 2013, when work crews added a brick backdrop to surround the perimeter of the infield and a new sprinkler system.
